Not bloody likely to buy anything from Ubi's spring line-up. The new protection is even worse than online activation. You will need an account on Ubi's site and to be permanently connected to internet while you are playing the SP campaign.
I've had my eyes on 4 Ubi games (Settlers 7, Anno 1404: Venice, RUSE and Silent Hunter 5). Any of the mentioned that will have that idiotic protection will represent a lost sale. I'm not buying something that is forcing me to be linked to internet 24/7. Other Ubi games that will be released this spring are Splinter Cell: Conviction, Assassin Creed and Prince of Persia: Forgotten Sands. A busy year for Ubi, with a lot of interesting titles, spoiled by their stupid decision. Oh, well, I guess that if they don't sell, they always can blame the pirates. That's what corporations do in our days.
There is no marketing research anymore, no customer service, no quality assurance checks. And everyone blames piracy (entertainment biz) or the chinese (goods production).
